The Family
Amalia, Catarina and Laura Di Luccia grew up on the kitchen floor. The kitchen floor of Il Cefalo (The Gray Mullet) that is, a small restaurant and pensione outside of Positano on Italy’s Amalfi Coast. From the time these three sisters could push a broom they had a job in the family business.

According to Amalia, “My father never hired an employee until all the children had grown up and left.” She never remembers eating in the kitchen of the house where they lived. “We always ate in the restaurant.”

The Di Luccia girls are well steeped in the food business. Although trained as teachers, food is their passion. Laura married the chef Jorge Ramirez. In 1997 the sisters and brother-in-law opened Trattoria Positano. It was a life-long dream come true.

But most importantly there is a new generation growing up on the restaurant floor - young Bianca, Isabella and Giorgio. It won’t be long before they start pushing the broom just as their mothers did.
